March Newsletter

A year and a half ago my journey with the Lord began, and you have been a major part of that journey. In September of ’08 I attended the Discipleship Training School and then the School of Evangelism. Since then God has been rocking my world. He has shown me my identity in Him, and also my gifts and purpose in life; my plan and calling in the Kingdom of God. In September of ’09 God called me to do the School of Worship. I learned so much about leadership in ministry, leadership in the church and also how to be a leader. He revealed so many things about worship that I could have never imagined, and it’s been an incredible revelation in my walk with Him. Thank you for standing behind me, praying, interceding and helping me financially. The five months of this school, I feel, were the kickoff to what God has for me in the near future.

For as long as I can remember, justice has been a high moral standard in my life. In particular, abortion and sex trafficking. I knew about both, but in my School of Evangelism last summer my eyes were opened to the injustice and crime of these areas. God placed the burden on my heart. He asked, “Are you willing to be used by Me to bring change into these areas?” The only response I had was, “Send me.”

At the YWAM Tyler base there are multiple ministries associated with this area. Living Alternatives Maternity Home is one of them, which was started by Bev Kline almost thirty years ago as a safe haven for single pregnant women as an alternative to abortion. They take the women in and house them during their pregnancy and also after the child has come. They disciple them and they show them the love of the Father. They also offer schooling if they have not yet completed high school. Their heart is to show them the value of life and just how valuable they, as mothers, are. There is story after story of redemption and joy because of the work God has started in this home. And, now, I will be able to be a part of the staff at this home doing whatever I can, whether it will be taking care of the property during the day or filing papers in the office. God has told me to serve, to be a friend to the women, to reflect God’s character to these women, and to show them how much He loves them and the gift growing inside their bellies.

Something that has also been on my heart is the men of these relationships. An opportunity is already available to start this. Another aspect of the ministry of Living Alternatives is called Building Blocks. It’s a place in town where women from the city can come and take classes on parenthood and raising children. The more they come and take classes, the more points they earn. With the points they earn they are able to get child necessities, i.e. diapers, baby cloths, car seats, etc. Now if the women bring their boyfriends, they earn extra points! So weekly there are a handful of men that come, but there is no discipleship available for them, mainly because Living Alternatives as a whole does not have many male staff. I will be working there alongside the other staff starting to befriend and minister to these men. Hopefully the doors will open and discipleship will start to take place. I am very excited about this next step God has for me. I am excited to see the fruit come out of it; the stories I will be able to tell of God’s goodness and grace. With this next step comes a new type of challenge, but one that I am confident God is going to walk with me in. Every full time worker of Youth With A Mission is responsible to develop and see a team of prayer and financial supporters. This challenge is one that can seem difficult at times to me, but I am confident of God’s leading in it. God has spoken to me that I am not to “settle” for anything less than His best for me. That being said, I am believing God, and looking for in my belief for 50 people who will pray for me on a regular basis. And also 50 people who will stand with me financially on a monthly basis. In the times that we live, many of my contemporaries are fearful of taking on a challenge like this. But, as I move forward with this challenge before me, I believe God has indicated to me that I am to ask people to prayerfully consider joining my team in prayer and also if they would consider supporting me on monthly basis. Would you prayerfully consider joining my team? Also, if you know of someone who may want to be a part of my team, would you please pass this information onto them? Thank you for your serious consideration of this.

Thank you for your prayers and support. May the Lord bless you abundantly.
